What to know

The “rails-to-trail” section between the Lick Creek and Lake View Trailheads is 8.5 miles of crushed gravel. Lick Creek Trailhead has a few parking spaces and trash cans, as well as a commemorative marker describing the small skirmish that occurred nearby during the American Civil War.

Lake View Trailhead is located in Lake View, AR within view of cypress-lined Old Town Lake. Lake View, AR was one of three communities reserved for black families by the Resettlement Administration as a part of the New Deal in the 1930s. There is a covered seating area built in the style of a rural rail depot that could’ve once been found on rural rail lines. Lake View Trailhead has a few parking spaces and trash cans, as well as interpretive panels and a bike repair station and trash cans.

NOTE: There is no water fountain at either Lick Creek nor Lake View Trailheads. Services are limited in this area and many businesses only accept cash.
