What to know

A walk on this gentle trail offers you the opportunity to reflect on the interconnectedness of nature and history.

This 1/3-mile trail leads to the spring for which the Battle of Poison Spring was named. You will notice a significant amount of sand along the trail, as this area of southern Arkansas is home to unique sandhill plant communities. The trail is mostly sand except for bridges and stairs. Sandhill oak and forests and woodlands, barrens, seeps, and wetlands are characteristic of this Gulf Coastal Plain region.

Keep in mind: Trail is marked with yellow blazes. Stay on the trail; shortcuts and extra paths cause damage to the forest community.

Leave No Trace Park Ethics: This is your park; removing, defacing, or destroying plants, fossils, animals, or rocks is harmful to everyone and illegal.
