Mountain Biking & Gravel Riding
Ride Your Way—Gravel, Grit, or Gravity
Mountain Biking
Arkansas has earned its place among the nation’s best mountain biking destinations, thanks to five IMBA Epic Trails, the award-winning Monument Trails in Arkansas State Parks, and the massive OZ Trails network in Bentonville — proudly called the Mountain Biking Capital of the World™.
IMBA Epic routes include: the Upper Buffalo cutting through Ozark wilderness, Syllamo’s backcountry run, Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT) with scenic lake views, Ouachita National Recreation Trail's 50-mile stretch, and the Womble’s high climbs.
Located in Hobbs, Devil’s Den, Pinnacle Mountain, and Mount Nebo state parks, Monument Trails weave through iconic landscapes, while OZ trails deliver more than 550 miles of singletrack ranging from friendly beginner loops to technical masterpieces.
In Northwest Arkansas, trail building is an art form. Flow, sustainability, and terrain-savvy design invite everyone to get hooked, whether exploring family-friendly routes, sampling jumps at the Railyard Bike Park in Rogers, or logging big days on the classics. Bentonville especially shines with a deep community of bike shops, rental services, and shuttles, plus robust online information about trail conditions, clinics, and trip planning.
Central Arkansas and the Ouachita region are rich for riding too. Hot Springs sits within an hour of three IMBA Epic rides: LOViT, Womble, and Ouachita National Recreation Trail. Newer flow and jump trails closer to town at Northwoods, along with classic singletrack at Iron Mountain and Cedar Glades, welcome everyone from aspiring rippers to experienced trail hounds. Little Rock’s oldest riding area, Boyle Park, is a good place to develop bike handling without heavy traffic, while the Camp Robinson Trail System in North Little Rock is a regional favorite with 40-plus miles. Shops, breweries, and scenic post-ride stops are always nearby.
Gravel Riding
The gravel scene is equally impressive. Fayetteville leads the way with a comprehensive guide and Ride GPS partnership serving up turn-by-turn details on mapped routes through scenic countryside. The Ozark Grinder Trail puts riders deep into the backcountry on 200 miles of rollers, creek crossings, and climbs that’ll test your legs and reward your spirit. Little Rock’s Lake Sylvia Gravel Loop and networked routes give easy access to the piney Ouachitas. More casual spins can be had on the Delta Heritage Trail, a crushed limestone route through wetlands, hardwood forests, and open fields — ideal for wildlife watching and unhurried days in the saddle.
No matter where you ride, Arkansas offers a moderate four-season climate and a community eager to share the stoke. IMBA Ride Centers in Bentonville, Fayetteville, and Hot Springs pair trails with post-ride perks like craft breweries, coffee shops, and art museums. And with signature events like Little Sugar, Big Sugar, Arkansas High Country Race, the Ozark Grinder Race, and countless local festivals and group rides scattered throughout the year, every style of pedal-powered adventure finds its place in The Natural State.
Whether it’s an epic mountain mission, a chill gravel grind, a kids’ clinic or a quick city loop, Arkansas gives riders more ways to keep coming back for one more lap.
