Day 1 - City exploration

Downtown

Kick things off at the Old State House Museum, where striking architecture and rotating exhibits make it a great first stop for getting a feel for Arkansas’ story. Step inside, explore the chambers and enjoy exhibits that bring the state to life in engaging, modern ways.

Nearby, the Historic Arkansas Museum offers another chance to wander through charming spaces and galleries that showcase Arkansas culture through interactive exhibits and beautifully preserved structures.

Follow the Arkansas River Trail for a scenic stroll along the water, passing hotels, convention spaces and river overlooks. Pause at La Petite Roche Plaza to see the city’s namesake rock and enjoy this newly refreshed riverside space.

Keep heading east to the Clinton Presidential Library, set dramatically along the Arkansas River. Its soaring design, immersive exhibits and rotating special events make it a must-see stop whether you are a history buff or simply love impressive architecture and scenic riverfront settings.

South Main

Shift gears and head to one of the city’s coolest pockets, the South Main Street District, better known as SoMa. Funky boutiques, chef-driven restaurants and colorful street life define the scene here. Do not miss the delightfully unexpected ESSE Purse Museum, the only museum of its kind in North America and a fun, fashionable stop for all ages.

West Little Rock

For a dose of nature, venture west to Pinnacle Mountain State Park, where forested trails, river views and skyline panoramas deliver classic Arkansas scenery just minutes from downtown. Take an easy walk around the base or challenge yourselves with a climb to the summit for sweeping views of the Arkansas River Valley.

Nightlife

As evening sets in, head back to the River Market District for dinner and nightlife. From polished dining rooms to laid-back local favorites, plus live music, dueling pianos and karaoke, the neighborhood comes alive after dark.

Day 2 - Surrounding Sights

Argenta

The next day, cross the river to North little Rock and explore the Argenta Arts District. One of the city’s oldest and most eclectic neighborhoods, the Argenta vibe is all about arts and entertainment. Packed with galleries, restaurants, breweries, and performance spaces, the district is walkable but also has a vintage-style trolley.

Scott

Next head southeast of the city, where small-town charm and unexpected finds await. In Scott, take a short detour to the Scott Plantation Settlement, a peaceful outdoor site perfect for strolling past historic buildings and soaking in the rural landscape.

Just across the way, Plantation Agriculture Museum State Park offers engaging exhibits that explore Arkansas’ farming heritage through restored structures, vintage tools and interactive displays.

Continue south to Plum Bayou Mounds Archeological State Park, where broad fields, towering earthworks and quiet trails create a striking setting for an afternoon walk. Two looping paths let visitors explore the grounds at their own pace while taking in one of the state’s most intriguing landscapes.

Keo

If bargain hunting and treasure seeking call louder, point the car toward the tiny town of Keo and browse beloved local shops like Old Gin Antiques. Cap things off with a sweet stop at Charlotte’s Eats and Sweets, where homemade desserts steal the show. Pie, cake and towering ice-cream treats make the perfect finale before heading back to Little Rock.
